Religious Education (RE)
We want children to learn and understand about world religions and to apply their knowledge and skills to their own lives. We want them to develop an interest, tolerance and understanding of all religions and beliefs. We follow the Surrey Agreed Syllabus for RE and use Discovery RE which adopts an enquiry-based approach to teaching and learning. Christianity is taught in every year group, with Christmas and Easter given new treatment each year, developing the learning in a progressive way. Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism are also covered. Our main aim is to develop tolerance, respect and understanding of others and their beliefs. This approach helps to promote British Values and Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development, supporting children with the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of the present day and the future.
